Rose Cano Olsen was born on September 29, 1938 in Wharton County Texas. She passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026 surrounded by her children after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She married Clarence Olsen on August 6th 1961 and shared 63 years of life, love and family. Rose and Clarence raised 4 children and built a home centered on family and faith. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church for over 50 years, where she operated and ran the church bookstore. She dedicated her life to raising her family and took pride in creating a warm, loving home. She loved to dance to Tejano music and enjoyed attending live shows. Rose was an excellent cook and made the most incredible tortillas, a memory we will all miss and cherish.
Throughout her life, Rose cared for others. She worked as a caregiver for many seniors and was a devoted teacher in the Mothers Day Out program where she shared her patience, kindness and experience with young children. She enjoyed being around people and loved life with enthusiasm. She believed in hard work and taught her children practical life skills, resilience and how to persevere through difficult times.
Rose was no nonsense and believed that her children could accomplish anything they set their minds to, and she encouraged them to face life's challenges with determination and strength. Her faith, devotion and strength touched many people. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her
Rose is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Olsen. She is survived by her four children, Cindy Olsen, Jim Olsen (Maggie), Kim Reyes (Bobby) and Joshua Olsen (Roberto). Six Grandchildren, Rocky LaLumia (Jessica), Brandon Gamez, James Olsen, Blake Gamez, Blaine Gamez and Haley Rose Olsen. Three great grandchildren, Louis LaLumia, Valentina LaLumia and Kairi Gamez.
