Obituary

Robert Allen Young, 59, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, after a strong fight to recover from a motor vehicle accident. Robert was born in Pasadena, Texas and attended Pasadena High School where he was a proud and dedicated member of the Drumline. He was invited to tour and compete with the Texas Drum Corps in 1982 where he formed a joy for showmanship. Robert served a short time in the US Navy and was a household painter.

Robert was an avid reader and TV watcher that retained both useless and useful information throughout his life. He always encouraged individuals to find meaning in something – even if that something was going against society norms or politically incorrect. He will be remembered for his love of "good" music, his alien conspiracy theories, high intellect, and drumming skills. His close high school friends were an integral part of Robert's life, up until his passing. He is leaving a lasting impression on those around him.

His family will always reflect on his crazy stories combined with an imagination that created the need to play "Rock" when kids just needed to be still and quiet for more than 10 minutes. We should all be encouraged to play "Rock" when life just seems to overwhelm us.

Robert is proceeded in death by his parents, George and Kay Young; and his beloved grandfather, Theodore Young (wife, Mildred).

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to a charity that supports drug rehabilitation or mental health treatment in gratitude for the support they provided Robert throughout his life.

A "Final Toast to Robert" will be planned in 2025.
