Robert Lopez was born September 14, 1945, to Albert and Francis Lopez in DeWalt, Texas. Robert made his journey to be with the Lord on June 16, 2024.

For nineteen years he worked for HISD as a skilled arborist. His green thumb kept him busy growing trees, flowers, and plants. He always made family and friends feel at home with a homemade meal and a nice conversation. He knew no stranger.

Robert's life motto was – "No matter what's going on, be happy – have a smile" . His smile was contagious.

Robert leaves behind to carry on his legacy his wife, Esther Lopez, and his sons Robert Lopez, Albert Lopez, Geraldo Lopez (Carina), and Bennie Ortiz (Cassandra). As well as his daughters Shirley Garcia (Arthur) and Ester Hirsch (Paul). He leaves 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren (with one more to arrive in September), and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters (Paula, Beatrice, Irene, Mary), three brothers (Gonzalo, David, Phillip), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Robert is predeceased by his father, mother, sister (Erminia), brother (John), grandson (Michael) and other family loved ones.

A visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 8706 Almeda Genoa Rd., Houston, TX. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral home will receive visitors at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, with service commencing at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Houston Memorial Gardens, 2426 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, TX.
