IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Iris
Cavazos
June 5, 1947 – December 13, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our matriarch, Norma Iris Cavazos, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), great grandmother, and friend, who passed peacefully in her sleep on December 13, 2024, at the age of 77.
Born June 5, 1947, in Caguas, Puerto Rico to James and Julia Matos, Norma arrived on the mainland with her parents and sister in 1951. Norma was a woman of great faith, intelligence, and strength. She touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness and value for education and the law will continue to live on in her descendants and students.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Julia Matos, her first husband Walter Wilson, and her brother-in-law, George L. Gore, Sr.
Norma is survived by her beloved husband, Victor Cavazos, her daughter Julia Saldana (James), her grandchildren Charles Dancer (Maria), J'lisa Marie Caldwell (Torey), Amber G. James, and her great grandchildren Mya Dancer, Jalien Benito and Nyjuel Hernandez, and her sister, Elba Gore, her niece, Carol Knight (Ricky) and her nephew, George L. Gore, Jr.
She will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery in a private ceremony at a future date.
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8 - Rest in peace, Mom.
Nana will continue to live on in our hearts and guide our choices for years to come. We would like to thank all of you who have offered prayers, condolences, and support as we work to grieve our loss.
