Our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Leonila Carrillo Arriaga, who passed away on November 4th, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life at the age of 96.

Leonila was born on January 17, 1928, in the town of San Jose Iturbide, Guanajuato, Mexico. She was one of 11 children born to Fidencia Arriaga and Tomas Carrillo. She was a caring and loving mother to her 9 children: Agustin, Sabas, Pueblito, Lupe, Carmen, Jose Rosario, Marí, Bertha, and Rosy.

Leonila had a nurturing soul and loved gardening, caring for her pets, and cooking delicious meals for her family. But her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an incredible matriarch and regal leader in our family whose faith, strength, and courage never wavered. She instilled strength by the life she lived. She was one who worked tirelessly, even when life made things difficult, whose strength and perseverance continue to inspire us all.

Leonila is survived by her 8 children: Agustin Balderas, Carmen Balderas, Marí Balderas, Sabas Balderas, Lupe Balderas, Jose Rosario Balderas, Bertha Balderas, and Maria Rosita Carrion; as well as 28 grandkids, 57 great grandkids, and 16 great-great grandkids, two siblings; Berna and Rafaela. She is preceded in death by her daughter Maria Pueblito Balderas; granddaughters: Teresa Balderas, Cristina Gonzalez; Grandson: Rafael Felix Balderas; siblings Cele, Jovita, Juan, Dolores, Lillo, Cinsi, Carmen and Clemencia.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)

Nana will be greatly missed. We will always carry your memory in our hearts until we meet again.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with a service at 12 p.m, Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 8706 Almeda Genoa Rd. Houston, Texas 77075

Nuestra familia lamenta profundamente el fallecimiento de nuestra querida madre, abuela y bisabuela, Leonila Carrillo Arriaga, quien partió el 4 de noviembre de 2024, a la edad de 96 años, después de una vida larga y plena.

Leonila nació el 17 de enero de 1928 en el pueblo de San José Iturbide, Guanajuato, México. Fue una de los 11 hijos de Fidencia Arriaga y Tomás Carrillo. Fue una madre cariñosa y amorosa de 9 hijos: Agustín, Sabas, Pueblito, Lupe, Carmen, José Rosario, Marí, Bertha y Rosy.

Leonila tenía un alma generosa y disfrutaba de la jardinería, cuidar de sus mascotas y cocinar deliciosas comidas para su familia. Pero su mayor alegría era pasar tiempo con sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos. Fue una matriarca increíble y una líder majestuosa en nuestra familia, cuya fe, fortaleza y valentía nunca flaquearon. Ella nos enseñó el valor de la fuerza a través de su vida. Fue una mujer que trabajó incansablemente, incluso cuando la vida se volvía difícil, y cuya fortaleza y perseverancia continúan inspirándonos a todos.

Leonila deja un legado de amor y fortaleza. Le sobreviven sus 8 hijos: Agustín Balderas, Sabas Balderas, Lupe Balderas, Carmen Balderas, José Rosario Balderas, Bertha Balderas, Marí Balderas, y María Rosita Carrión, así como 28 nietos, 57 bisnietos y 16 tataranietos, y dos hermanos. Fue precedida en la muerte por su hija María Pueblito Balderas, sus nietas Teresa Balderas y Cristina Gonzalez, su nieto Rafael Felix Balderas, y sus hermanos Cele, Jovita, Juan, Dolores, Lillo, Cinsi, Carmen y Clemencia.

"Y les sacará toda lágrima de sus ojos, y la muerta ya no existirá, ni habra mas tristeza ni llanto, ni dolor. Las cosas anteriores han desaparecido"  (Apocalipsis 21:4)

Nuestra querida Nana será profundamente extrañada. Siempre llevaremos tu memoria en nuestros corazones hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar.
