IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lana Joyce
Posey Norris
May 11, 1947 – December 9, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lana J. Posey Norris, who left us peacefully on December 9, 2024, at the age of 77. Lana's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her remarkable spirit, unwavering faith, and love for her family will live on forever.
Lana was born in Crabb, Texas, on May 11, 1947, to Hattie Mae Edmondson and Joseph Carl Ullrich Sr. Growing up in a close-knit family, she developed a deep sense of compassion and a strong work ethic that defined her life. She was a proud graduate of Jack Yates High School, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to learning and faith. After high school, she pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Theology from Oral Roberts University. Her studies in theology shaped her understanding of faith, and she became a strong spiritual pillar for those around her.
Lana was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Grover Norris, and her brother, Joseph Carl Ullrich Jr. She is survived by her brother, Walter Ullrich, along with her seven children: Darlene Thompson (Corey Thompson), Dytanya Posey, Melvin Posey, Melva Posey, Dacron Posey, Taurus Posey (Franchesca Posey), and Taurean Posey. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
Throughout her life, Lana was guided by her faith in God and a profound belief in the importance of family. She lived her life with an unwavering commitment to these values, always putting others' needs before her own. Lana was a nurturing and devoted mother, pouring her heart and soul into raising her children and ensuring they knew they were loved and cherished.
Her love for her family extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, offering wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love to the next generations. Whether through a shared laugh, a kind word, or simply her presence, Lana left an indelible mark on her family that will last for generations.
In addition to her role as a devoted mother and grandmother, Lana had a heart always open to helping those in need. She dedicated much of her time to uplifting others and praying for their well-being. Her home was a sanctuary for family and friends, where everyone was welcomed with open arms and a warm smile.
As a woman of great faith, Lana was a prayer warrior. There are days when we would hear her voice, praying for everyone but herself. She made her children understand the importance of prayer, teaching us the Bible in a way even a layman would understand. She dissected the word of God and made it pleasing to hear, instilling in us the values of faith and devotion.
Lana's legacy is one of love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Her love for her family, her unwavering faith, and her generous spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
Her memory will forever be cherished by those who loved her, and her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.

When God thought of our mother, He must have laughed with satisfaction and framed her quickly—so rich, so deep, so divine, so full of soul, power, and beauty, as the conception. She was a masterpiece, a reflection of His finest work, molded with care and love beyond measure. A woman king, a woman of substance and virtue, she was the best of all. She was not just our mother but a guiding light, a beacon of hope, and the epitome of strength.
A woman with the strength of 100 men put together, that woman was our mother. Her resilience was unparalleled, her determination unwavering, and her love unending.
