José Arturo Pérez Lara, de 67 años de edad, originario de Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México, nació el 23 de julio de 1953 y falleció súbitamente la madrugada del jueves 17 de junio del 2021. Será recordado como un padre y abuelo cariñoso, alegre, respetuoso, honesto, y trabajador. Desde joven inició su labor como ebanista y continuó a ejercer el mismo oficio en Houston, Texas. Luego trabajó en el negocio de su hijo José Arturo durante muchos años. Su pasión desde su juventud siempre fue el beisbol y sus primeras porras las dedicó a su equipo natal, los Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo y después a los Astros de Houston. Durante muchos años fue mánager de su propio equipo de beisbol, cuyo nombre fue los Tecolotes. También fue fiel fanático de su equipo favorito de fútbol, las Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara. Algunos de sus pasatiempos fueron escuchar música y bailar. Fue autodidacto y ávido lector de historia y asuntos de actualidad. Siempre fue respetado por su gran repertorio de conocimiento sobre distintos temas, entre ellos los deportes, incluyendo el pugilismo. Sus familiares y amigos siempre recordarán su sonrisa, su sencillez, sus pláticas, y se le extrañará enormemente. Que en paz descanse y que brille para él, Señor, tu luz perpetua.

Gallais, Yannick S. Gallais, Daniel Rincón, Kassandra L. Pérez, Sophia A. Pérez, José Arturo Pérez, III, George S. García, Gianna N. García, y Giuliana N. García; hermanos, Francisca (José Luis, finado), Sotero (Rosa), María Antonieta (José), y Lidia Adelaida (Servando, finado); sus cuñados, cuñadas, sobrinos, y sobrinas.

Jose Arturo Perez Lara, age 67, was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico on July 23, 1953. He passed away unexpectedly during the early morning hours of June 17, 2021. He will be remembered as a loving, joyful, respectful, honest, and hard-working father and grandfather. He began working as a cabinetmaker at a young age and continued the trade when he arrived in Houston, Texas. He then worked at his son Jose Arturo's business, working alongside him for many years. Baseball was his passion since his youth and he first cheered on his home team, the Nuevo Laredo Tecolotes (Owls), and later the Houston Astros. He managed his own baseball team, which he named Los Tecolotes, for many years. He was also a loyal fan of the Guadalajara Chivas Rayadas, his favorite soccer team. Some of his hobbies included listening to music and dancing. He was self-educated and an avid reader of history and current affairs. He was well-respected for his great repertoire of knowledge about various subjects, sports amongst them, including boxing. His family and friends will always remember his smile, his simple ways, his conversations, and he will be greatly missed. Lord give him eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Maria Ramirez Perez (35 years of marriage); parents Sotero Perez and Maria Adelaida Lara; grandchildren Baby Perez-Cruz and Gizelle Marie Garcia; brothers Manuel and Jorge Perez Lara. Survived by his children Maria Adelaida Perez (Gregory Champion), Claudia Perez (Raymundo Rincon), Jose Arturo Perez (Mariana), and Patricia Garcia (George); grandchildren Alyssa J. Gallais, Cindy A. Gallais, Yannick S. Gallais, Daniel Rincon, Kassandra L. Perez, Sophia A. Perez, Jose A. Perez, III, George S. Garcia, Gianna N. Garcia, and Giuliana N. Garcia; siblings Francisca (Jose Luis, deceased), Sotero (Rosa), Maria Antonieta (Jose), and Lidia Adelaida (Servando, deceased); his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
