IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Kay
Sharpley
August 31, 1960 – September 27, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Sharpley who left us too soon on September 27, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Janet was born on August 31, 1960 in Houston, Texas to James and Geraldine Sharpley. She was a loving and devoted sister to John Sharpley and Nancy Hutchinson (Gary Hutchinson), and was the best aunt to their daughters Angela Perret, Stephanie Brooks, Heather Greiner, Rachel King, and Sarah Flaherty.
Janet had a passion for theater and was able to live out that passion thoroughly throughout her life. She was owner and director of Community Cup Theatre where she was able to bring laughs and smiles to the faces of the people in the community. She also took the time to teach drama classes to local students. She decided to take her passion for teaching and switch careers to become the performing arts teacher in the Pasadena school district for which she recently retired in the spring of 2024. Her presence on stage and backstage, leadership in the classroom, sense of humor, and compassion all came together to make her who she was and what she would be remembered for. She loved Jesus and was also heavily involved with youth ministry and the adoration worship group at First Christian Church. You would never know that through the actress persona she was really an introvert who enjoyed spending most of her time with her 2 dogs, Molly and Gracie.
A private Celebration of Janet's Life will be held the week of October 13th for the family. In accordance with her wishes, Janet will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider contributing to a fundraiser for the Houston Humane Society. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered support, love, and prayers during this time of mourning.
