IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Michael
Dees
February 24, 1940
James Michael Dees
February 24, 1940 - December 23, 2023
James Michael Dees grew up in Terrell, Texas with his parents James and Helen Dees, and was born onFebruary 24, 1940.As a young boy, he traveled to see his family in Oklahoma during summer visits with aunts, uncles, and cousins. His family were entrepreneursowning a cotton gin and dairy mart during his youth. He often told many stories of working at both businesses with fond memories.
James was a man who loved to share his stories and he never met a stranger. He had an unmatched memory - would know your date of birth, anniversary, and where you were from after a few brief moments and could recite them perfectly even years later. He left an impression on everyone that he met. He loved talking about trains and would rarely be found withouthis engineer hat on, no matter the event. He also loved talking about old cars and ones that his parents had bought throughout his childhood. James had 3 main occupations during his life that he wouldbend your ear about if you gave him time - welding, family-owned cotton gins, and driving train employees. As a young adult, he took up welding and had many happy years doing this.James also loved God, reading the bible, and watching gospel shows on TV.
James is now reunited with our mom, Carrie. He showed her his love by doing daily acts of love. Her coffee and breakfast were always ready for her when she woke up in the morning. When he retired, he would sit on the porch in a chair waiting for her, often while smoking his pipe, to return from work to greet her. He was adamant about checking her oil and tires to be sure she was always safe on the road.
James will be remembered fondly by his family and all who knew him.
