Obituary

Hugo Alve Ramirez Sr.
April 23, 1938 - December 28, 2021

Hugo Alve Ramirez Sr. passed December 28, 2021, surrounded by his family. Hugo was born April 23, 1938, in San Ygnacio, TX. Hugo loved his family including his extended family but especially his grandchildren. The best way to describe dad is his love for God, family, and South Texas. He didn't go to church often but he did believe in our beautiful Catholic faith. He sent two of his children to Catholic school. Dad was very affectionate with my mom as well as the women in his life. He loved his wife dearly as they were married for 61 years. After she passed in July, he missed her terribly. Dad was a hard-working man. He was a very good provider working as a machinist. He spoiled my mom with gifts and paid for two years of college for each of his children. When we were young, he worked a side job as a carpenter to earn extra income. He could visualize stuff in 3D and as a result, he created beautiful custom pieces of furniture over the years. As much as he was proud of his family he enjoyed talking about his genealogy. He was so proud to have come from South Texas and he instilled that same belief with his children. He always said his dad was his best friend. As a child, Hugo would help his dad deliver tortillas among other items. He loved going hunting in South Texas with his family. In his later years of life, he had the privilege of hunting at his sister-in-law's (Bertha Ramirez) ranch. Hugo and his son built deer stands. He would always say "nature is beautiful in South Texas". Even though he moved to Houston to raise his family for a better life you could never take South Texas out of Hugo. He felt right at home at the ranch. If he could he would live there full time. He knew how to live off the land. Before he would leave, he always made sure to clean up as he respected the land. It gave him much peace to be there. Thank you, Saul Ramirez family, for allowing this. You gave Hugo much joy for this.

Hugo is preceded in death by his wife Ella Mae Ramirez, his parents Marcial and Margarita Ramirez, his brothers Derly, Saul, Roberto Ramirez, and sister Viloeta Uribe. Survived by his sons Hugo Ramirez Jr; Rene Ramirez wife Dianna; his daughter Yvonne Ramirez-Torres; grandchildren Leah Torres, Rene Ramirez II, Catherine Ramirez and his sister Azucena McGuire and sister in law Miverna Ramirez.
