Obituary

Ernesto Garcia Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 62. He was born in Corpus Christi and was the son of Ernesto R. Garcia, and Genoveva G. Saucedo.

Ernesto was a devoted family man. Known for his sense of humor and larger-than-life personality, he was truly the life of the party. He loved making people laugh and brought joy wherever he went. Ernesto cared deeply for those around him and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it was fixing something around the house, helping with repairs, or simply showing up when someone needed support, he was always there.

He worked for many years as a scaffold-building contractor in chemical plants and refineries and took pride in being hardworking and dependable. Ernesto enjoyed fishing, cooking, gambling, and working on electrical, plumbing, and home repairs, including roofing and sheetrock wall repair. Some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors fishing with family and friends. Those who knew him will always remember his generous heart, his jokes, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto R. Garcia; his mother, Genoveva G. Saucedo; his stepfather, Domingo Saucedo; and his sister, Elisa Espinosa.

He is survived by his loving children, Jenny Cornerstone and Ashley Garcia, and his stepson, Nick Napp. He was a proud grandfather to Jaylynn Monroe, Aida Darby, Jeremias Darby, Adrianna Wedgeworth, Benjamin Wedgeworth, and Lukas King- Maldonado, who will carry his memory forward, He is also survived by his siblings: Eddie Garcia, Jenny Garcia, David Garcia (Claudia), Christina Bishop (Russell), Domingo Saucedo Jr. (Tanya), Christopher Saucedo (Paola), and stepbrother Domingo Saucedo Jr. (Patricia), Thomas Saucedo and his brother-in-law, Fermin Espinosa, husband of the late Elisa Espinosa.

Ernesto will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a father and brother who always loved and supported his family in anything they chose to do. His memory will live on in every fishing trip, every laugh shared, and every helping hand given to others. The next time you cast a line into the water, remember that he is right there beside you.
