IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eduardo Candelario
Ruiz
September 7, 1962 – May 2, 2025
Eduardo Candelario Ruiz was called home on May 2, 2025, at the age of 62. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved parents, Benita Muniz Ruiz and Candelario Ruiz; his wife, Lisa Guerra Ruiz; and his precious granddaughter, Chloe Ruiz.
Born in Matamoros, Mexico on September 7, 1962, Eddie came to Texas at just eight years old. From an early age, it was clear that Eddie had a zest for life and a heart full of joy. He grew up playing little league baseball in Magnolia Park, riding bikes, popping wheelies, and building his own skateboards. He continued to ride his bike until recently, when his health began to change.
Eddie was a man of many talents — a true jack of all trades. If something needed fixing, he was the one to call. He never hesitated to lend a hand, especially for his mother and sisters, and he always finished what he started. Whether it was patching a wall, repairing something broken, or just being present, Eddie gave with all his heart. He had a love for the simple things: time outdoors, working in his yard, and tending to his roses. He cherished camping trips with his family, attending concerts, and reading novels by James Patterson. Eddie always encouraged his children to get lost in a good book.
Family meant everything to Eddie. He lit up when he was around his grandchildren — and they all knew that Pop made the best flour tortillas and gorditas around. He found happiness in a warm pot of pinto beans and freshly made tortillas — but even more so, in seeing his family enjoy them.
Eddie leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his devoted sisters Juanita Ruiz De La Rosa and her husband Roland of Houston, TX, and Noemi Ruiz Ballard and her husband Lance of Humble, TX; by his children: Jonathan Ruiz and his wife Shelby of Alvin, TX; Joshua Ruiz and his wife Estefania of Houston, TX; and the twins, Nina and Nicole Ruiz, both of Houston, TX.
He was deeply proud and blessed to be the grandfather of thirteen grandchildren: Ariana Jae Gutierrez, Jonathan Edward Ruiz II, Joshua Edward Ruiz, Josiah Edward Ruiz, Cameron James Ruiz, Caleigh Jaymes Ruiz, Carter James Ruiz, Kayla Ariana Ruiz, Katlyn Benita Ruiz, Eduardo Renee Ruiz, Rosalie Garcia Ruiz, Yaretzi Ruiz, and Jesus Cuauhtémoc Ruiz.
He also had the joy of welcoming one great-grandchild, Elias Timothy Gutierrez.
Eddie shared a special bond with his nieces, Gabriella Braileano, Abigail Maree De La Rosa, and Sarah Nyomi De La Rosa and his Aunt, Enedina Beltran. And not to be forgotten, Mala, the loyal Belgian Malinois, will surely miss the love and care Eddie showed her.
Eddie's family will receive friends on May 14, 2025, from 5:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel located at 8706 Almeda Genoa Rd Houston, TX. 77075.
Funeral services will be held on May 15, 2025 at 10:00A.M. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. He will be Laid to rest at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston, TX.
