Daniel Ornelas was born on June 1, 1952, in Edinburg, TX, he attended Austin High School in Houston, TX. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1970. On August 23rd,1972 he met his wife Esther, the two were married on May 4th, 1974. Together they had four beautiful children.
Daniel Ornelas passed away on Thursday, April 13th, 2023. He is survived by his wife Esther Ornelas and their children: daughter Vanessa Cortez, spouse Adan Cortez, children Adan and Mateo, son Daniel Ornelas spouse Liliana San Miguel, children Soleil and Isa, daughter Andrea Ornelas spouse Daniel Rodriguez children Jordyn, Emily and Madilyn, son Vincent Ornelas spouse Kara children Holly and Samuel. As well as his siblings, brothers, Juan and Beatriz Ornelas, Ricardo and Beatriz Ornelas, Ruben and Angie Ornelas, sisters Linda and Hector Pena, Lulu and Gilbert Becerra, Delores and Oscar Ramirez, Ruby and Roland Benavides, and extensive nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and fellow Marines.
He is preceded in death by his father Juan Torres Ornelas, his mother Maria Vitela Ornelas, his sister Asuncion Ornelas, and his brother Andres Ornelas.
Daniel was a family man first, a Marine second, an outdoorsman third, and always a committed worker to the task at hand. Daniel overcame many obstacles in his life including surviving the Vietnam War, defeating cancer, and keeping diabetes in check. He will always be remembered for his generosity towards anyone who asked or showed they were in need, and his ability to instantly be in charge when he walked into the room. He was well respected by those who knew him, and most who met him. He would always look at his grandchildren with a sense of pride and loved doting on them.
