Cheryle Lynn
Davis
Jul 25, 1968 — Jul 28, 2026
Houston
Cheryle Lynn Davis was born on July 25, 1968 to Buster and Bennie Davis in Houston, Texas. Her older sisters, Kathy, Theresa, Brenda, and Donna, joyfully welcomed a new Davis sister to the bunch. As a child, she was your typical baby sister. She was outgoing, playful, and just a little spoiled. Who wouldn’t want to spoil the blue-eyed, curly blonde-haired baby of the family? Growing up with lots of sisters, she was captivated by fashion, make-up, and rock ‘n roll music. She was “that girl,” and she knew it. Her beautiful, contagious smile and rebellious ways had everyone flocking to get to know her. She became close to her friends, and they had a great time running in the neighborhood, seeing what kind of fun they could have each day. Dancing, skating, bowling, and bingo are some of the things they enjoyed. They have stories of fun that they shared; we will leave out the details, but just know a time was had. She attended Brookline Elementary and occasionally made her presence known at Hartman Middle School. Along the way, she made long-lasting relationships that would last her lifetime. She met and fell in love with Lonnie David Giles Sr. They married and welcomed their first child, Kaylynn Dawn in November of 1986. Subsequently, they were blessed with four more children. Lonnie David Giles Jr., Courtney Rene, Mathew Lee, and Michael Shane Giles. In just six short years, they went from two to a family of seven. As you can imagine, that came with its own set of challenges. As life sometimes does it become overwhelming. She struggled for years through hurt and pain. Sometimes in life you make decisions that put you down a path that you didn’t see coming. Never losing her joy of life and always trusting God, she eventually got a footing on the life she wanted for herself. She recognized that you can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. Like Ernest Hemingway once said, “We are all broken; that’s how the light gets in.” She chose to fill her life with her children and grandchildren. Staying close to her sisters, family, and friends. She created even more memories to keep close to her heart. She found a great companion in her sweet little dog “PDQ”. This fast four-legged boy bolted into her heart, and he was by her side until the end. In the early morning hours on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, she passed away peacefully in her sleep and was welcomed home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At 58 years old, she left this earth to be surrounded by those awaiting her in heaven.
