Obituary

September 25, 1959 – January 21, 2021

Susie Houston, age 61, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 21, 2021 into the hands of her Loving Lord. Susie was born in Houston, Texas on September 25, 1959, the youngest of 5 girls born to her late parents, Paul and Henrietta George.

Susie graduated from Milby High School and attended the University of Houston. She landed her "dream" job at Continental Airlines where she flourished for over 25 years. This allowed Susie and her family to travel to across America and abroad, a dream she had as a little girl. Her favorite destination was Hawaii, where she was happiest with "her toes in the sand & a lemonade in her hand", this was her happy place! She loved to laugh, tell a joke and meet new friends wherever she was. She had a kind heart trying over her life to make a difference in people's lives, helping neighbors and friends, baking treats, anything she could do to bring them a smile.
Susie was also an avid sports fan with her favorite teams were the Houston Oilers and then the Houston Texans! She collected fan gear and celebrated every game whether in person or watching on TV, she was a participating fan cheering on her "Team".

Susie also was a huge supporter of the Houston Rodeo and worked Rodeo events for over 10 years where she found a newfound appreciation of country music. She had every CD of both Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks and was Kenny's "# 1 Fan" and loved to attend concerts, singing along to all the songs, she knew every word of every song.

Susie was most proud of becoming a Mother to 3 Children, striving to give them the best life she could. She established a Girl Scout troop for her daughters and participated with her son in his Boy Scout troop, going camping and being the only Mom there! She took charge of the cooking and loved her role as a Troop Leader for many years. Susie was also a dog lover with a soft spot in her heart for all animals, recently rescuing her beloved "Mama" dog who will miss her dearly.

Susie is survived by her beloved Children, Adam Houston, Whitney Houston and Taylor Houston. She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly McGrew (Robert McGrew) and Terry George and her niece Dawn Palmer (Steve Palmer) and Mother-in-Law, Ira Houston and Sister-in-Law, Marilyn Houston and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Susie is preceded in Death by her daughter, Camille Houston; Parents, Paul and Henrietta George; Sisters Maureen Brock and Baby George; Grandparents Frank and Louise Absnaider and Lela George.
Susie loved her Church, "Mercy Street" and found Hope, Community and Strength there. No more judgment only Salvation.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Susie for Family and Friends on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 am at Mercy Street Church, located at 11140 Greenbay Street, Houston Texas 77024 (located at the back entrance of Chapelwood United Methodist Church) Donations to Mercy Street in Susie's name can be given in lieu of flowers at www.mercystreet.org/give
