Betty "Sue" Dowdy Trojanowsky

Betty Sue Dowdy Trojanowsky, age 95, passed away August 17, 2024, in Plano, Texas. Sue was born January 17, 1929, in Mexia, Texas, as the youngest of three children to Raymond Carl and Thelma Evelyn (Sailors) Dowdy. She moved to Houston at the age of three and graduated from Milby High School and later attended The University of Houston majoring in art. In 1946, Sue went on her first date with Walter Trojanowsky when it was arranged by Walter's sister, Marian. They played miniature golf. Sue and Walter dated for three years before getting married on April 23, 1949. The couple started their family shortly thereafter and Sue was a stay-at-home mom until 1979 when she went to work in the physician office of Dr. Horace Taylor Robbins. She retired in 1993.





Sue and Walter enjoyed many activities such as playing bridge, dominoes, dancing, bowling, travel and socializing in general. Additionally, Sue and Walter enjoyed watching a myriad of sports such as football (long-time fans of The Texas Longhorns), The Houston Astros, and tennis among their favorites. Sue also loved the arts and enjoyed painting and ceramics and the family still enjoys her hand-customed Holiday Decorations for Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. Sue & Walter were active members of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Houston, Texas for 40 years.





Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years Walter Floyd Trojanowsky, Jr. Sue is survived by her children, Brenda Reese of Sunset Valley, Texas, Diana Hueter (and son-in-law Bill Hueter) of Plano, Texas, Walter Carl Trojanowsky (and daughter-in-law Gina Chapman) of Lexington, South Carolina and Jackie Trojanowsky of McKinney, Texas. Sue is known as "Granny" by her six grandchildren Josh Reese, Jill Hueter Polansky, Mark Hueter, Kimarie Trojanowsky McGary, Michelle Trojanowsky Rudman, and Kacie Trojanowsky and nine great-grandchildren Morgan Polansky, Riley Polansky, Lauren Polansky, Brooklyn Polansky, Sydney Polansky, Jaxon Hueter, Ava Hueter, Zoey Hueter and Lily Rudman. Sue is also survived by her sister Bobby Haines of Sheridan, Texas, and many beloved nieces and nephews.





Sue will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held in the Narthax of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road, Houston, Texas 77089 on Thursday August 29 from 12:30 – 1 pm with a Funeral Mass to follow in the church. All are invited to a luncheon in the parish hall of the church, St. Luke the Evangelist, immediately preceding the funeral mass, from 11:30-12:30. Burial will take place at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in the Garden of Gethsemane, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas.
