Avundio “Willie” Mata passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. Born on October 18, 1953, He loved life, loved everyone, loved watching grandson’s baseball and football games and granddaughters cheerleading. He coached baseball for Sagemont Little League, he was thepresident for Outta Control Cookers and loved going on vacation to Mexico. Avundio loved live music and loved his dogs. He was a father figure to many, mentored his employees and helped them grow. At the highest moment of his career, his company Drywall Concepts made itinto the Texas Architect magazine. He loved giving back to the community and raised money for cancer awareness and sponsored less fortunate kids in Christmas time. In his legacy, his wish was his legacy to live on through family and friends. He was a miracle that survived stage 4 stomach cancer in 2009. He will be truly missed by family and friends.

Avundio is preceded in death by his parents Lucinda Malone & George Mata Sr., sisters Margaret Warren, Juanita Malone, brother Eliseo Mata, Granddaughter Adriana Mata, Father-in-Law Robert Wilson.

He is survived by wife of 55 years Debra Mata, children Servaundo Mata, Jillena Mata Coffey (Jason Coffey) & Isaiah Mata, grandchildren Auriana Mata, Isaiah Mata Jr., Gianna Flores, Amber Hobbs, Sister Eloisa Cavanaugh, Brother George Mata Jr. (Liz Mata), Mother-In-Law Ruth Wilson, Brother -in-law Ben Wilson & Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends
